The objectives of Care and Serve are:
Care and Serve derives its funding entirely from donations and uses this solely in furtherance of its charitable objectives as listed above.
Care and Serve is not associated with any political or religious organisations.
During the financial year 2023-2024, we supported the followingprojects in the areas of healthcare and educationin communities from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in India.
The basis of selecting these organisations has been either our own experience (visiting these centres and meeting with people working there), or through our close friends who are working with one or more of these organisations and are convinced of their genuine social impact. In both these cases we gathered information on organisations’ aims and objectives, transparency in accounting (income and expenses), and the impact of their services in the communities they serve.
This society has been providing health services through its hospital- The Rural Medical Centre- to poor communities in and around Delhi for several decades. Two of us ( Nihal Agar and Ashish Agar ) visited the hospital in Sept, 2023 and met its General Secretary, Dr VK Gopal. Dr Gopal gave us a tour of the hospital, was grateful for our support to the hospital in the previous years and asked us if we could help this time to replace an old equipment - the Slit Lamp- used in the Eye care. We donated $5000 to cover the cost of a new Slit Lamp.
This institution provides education to children from impoverished backgrounds. One of our member ( Murali Dharan ) has been in close contact with the management committee of the school. $30,000 was donated to this School
This hospital has been providing cancer treatment to members from poor communities. Murali Dharan has visited the hospital, and it was on his advice that we donated $30,000 to this hospital.
As has been in the past, the basis of selecting these organisations has been either our our own experience (visiting them and meeting the persons working there) or through our friends working in these organisations. We were satisfied with the organisation's aims and objectives, management and the impact of their services in the communities.
As is evident from the financial report (attached) a total of $ 70,329 was received from the donors and $ 65,329 was in turn donated for charity work.
Finally, we would like to thank our donors for their generous support to our humanitarian work.
